A little about HAI: YOUR REAL ESTATE LAWYER IN GUELPH
Accomplished lawyer, successful businesswoman, and community leader, Hai Tran is a multi-faceted woman with a deep desire to impact lives for the better through real estate law.
Besides running HNT Law, Hai is also an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Guelph. She teaches a range of courses from Real Estate Law to Canadian Business Law—combining her love for teaching with her passion for helping people navigate the legal system.
Additionally, Hai’s fluency in both Vietnamese and English has helped her serve the needs of clients all across Ontario with integrity and excellence.
During her time at law school, Hai trained as a mediator for St. Stephen’s Community House, where she learned how to help people resolve their disputes with compassion and understanding. After achieving her goal of earning a law degree from Osgoode Hall of Law, Hai articled at a local firm specializing in estate planning and real estate law. Understanding that there is a need for a lawyer who is actually hands-on and cares for their clients, she decided to strike out on her own to start her own law firm.

She now runs HNT Law out of her Toronto and Guelph office, serving the needs of clients across the province. Whether on-site or virtually, you can count on Hai to be there for you.
What do you hope to accomplish personally and professionally?
I am committed to providing excellent and efficient legal services that benefit my community. I envision the day when our firm has several locations across the Greater Toronto Area, staffed with like-minded lawyers who provide the highest standard of legal representation.
Why did you want to become a lawyer?
The legal world is confusing and intimidating, especially for people who are unfamiliar with the system. When someone says they ‘need a lawyer,’ it’s usually accompanied by feelings of negativity or worry. I aim to make my clients feel confident that their concerns will be addressed and resolved, thanks in part to the quality representation I provide.
As an immigrant and the daughter of immigrants, I understand what it’s like to feel helpless because you don’t understand the system you’re in—a feeling most people experience when faced with legal issues. As a lawyer, I am dedicated to empowering individuals by resolving their legal problems and educating them on how this system works.
Why do you practice real estate law?
In real estate law, most of your interactions with clients are positive because they’re happy! They’re excited about the next step of their life—whether it’s moving into their first home or upgrading to something bigger with more space for their family.
Or maybe they’re downsizing after raising kids and want a smaller place where they can spend more days relaxing with each other instead of maintaining a huge house. Either way, our clients tend to be ready for the next step in their lives—and I love being there with them every step of the way!
What do you love most about your work?
What makes my job so uniquely rewarding is that, as a lawyer, I get to help people in ways that matter the most. That’s what makes me happiest—seeing my clients leave happier than when they came in the door.
The fact that I get to be a part of my clients’ lives and have such a meaningful impact on their futures is what makes this line of work so fulfilling for me.
Why did you start HNT Law?
I started HNT Law because I know how difficult it can be to find a good lawyer—a lawyer who is easy to talk to and always has your best interests at heart.
Having worked on hundreds of real estate law cases, I’ve found that clients often share similar anxieties. They worry that they may be unable to reach their lawyers in a time of need and also fear being confused by legal jargon.
Often, the legal system is complex and challenging to navigate without proper guidance. That’s why I set out to establish a law practice where I can ensure that my clients receive first-rate legal services while also maintaining a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere.
